Two Paths, One Love

Ashleigh's Side

How I Met My Husband

We met as freshmen at Bolton High School in 2011. I was so nervous about starting high school, and one morning on the bus I noticed this cute boy who kept looking at me. I was way too shy to say anything, but eventually he came over, introduced himself, told me he thought I was pretty, and asked if he could get to know me. I had no idea that one conversation would change my life.

We became really good friends and spent so much time together. We hung out at each other's houses, met each other's families and friends, and made memories at football games, the mall, and anywhere else we could find an excuse to go. No matter what life looked like, we always stayed connected.

When college came around, we both ended up in nursing school. We studied together, quizzed each other before exams, and checked in after every test. Even then, we were just friends, and eventually life took us in different directions again.

Then, three years ago, he randomly called me out of nowhere. We spent hours catching up, and a few days later he invited me over for dinner. We talked all night, laughed about old memories, and caught up on everything we had missed. From that night on, we were inseparable.

Looking back, it's funny to think it all started with a shy freshman and a boy who had the confidence to say hello. God knew exactly what He was doing, and the rest is history.

How I Met My Wife

I met my beautiful bride when we were in high school. One day I saw her sitting by herself on the bus and couldn't stop looking at her because I had never seen her before. I finally worked up the courage to introduce myself, and one of the first things I told her was that I liked her lips.

We talked, went on a few dates, and stayed close friends for years. Even when life took us in different directions, we always seemed to find our way back to each other.

A few years ago, she randomly crossed my mind, so I called her and invited her over for dinner. We spent the evening talking, laughing, and catching up on everything we had missed. From that moment, I knew there was something special about her.

Not long after, we started spending almost every day together, and it didn't take long for me to realize she was the woman I wanted to spend my life with. She has made me a better man, helped me grow in so many ways, and has been an incredible partner and mother to Bayleigh. We may be opposites, but we bring out the best in each other. Loving her is the easiest and best decision I've ever made.
